Wartburg 311

Wartburg 311 has a more interesting story, considering its origins from behind the Iron Curtain. Before the war, the company was part of the BMW, and had been involved in the manufacture of luxury vehicles, as the years 321, 326 and 327. After the war the company continued to manufacture under the BMW brand, but eventually had to change the name of Eisenacher Motor Works (SEM). Worse, the company began manufacturing small IFA F9 (based on a DKW design), a major step backwards.Without official permission and celebration under the strictest security, 311 have taken up the development - EMW determined to make at least a modest, modern official middle class car. Rushed through the design phase prototype EMW 311, the then ran striaght to Berlin for the penalty which, luckily they have received. And the official green light could not have come at a better time, dissatisfied with the Department of the similarity of the IFA F9 and DKW EMW 3-6 and pray to cease production. All attention is concentrated on the 311, which entered production in 1956. He even admitted in one year East German Rally Similarly teams sponsored by the company to make 6 of 12 "gold medals" event on the possible bid. Wartburg 311 was composed of not less than 8 different models, known in BEng Kombiwagen, convertible, camping, limousine, coupe, 313 sport coupe and the utility of pickup.
